He became interested in billiards at a young age and began playing in local pool halls in Buffalo, New York. He won his first major championship in 1965, winning the World 14.1 Championship.

Throughout his career, Diliberto won numerous championships, including the US Open Nine-ball Championship, World All-Around Championship, BCA Open Eight-ball Championship, and many more. He was inducted into the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame in 1984 and the One Pocket Hall of Fame in 2006.

Diliberto also had a successful career as a billiards commentator, providing expert analysis and commentary for over 20 years. He authored several books about billiards, including "The Road Player" and "Killer One Pocket," which have become staples of the billiards literature.
